Time for summer fun in the sun—City pools open Memorial Day weekend

   Grand Island, Neb.— The City of Grand Island swimming facilities will open for the summer on Saturday, May 26. All facilities are open seven days a week. Operational hours are as follows, weather permitting:

-Island Oasis Water Park—321 E. Fonner Park Rd.—noon to 8 p.m.

-Lincoln Pool—1018 E. 7th St.—noon to 6 p.m.                                  

-Wading Pools—11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.       

                        -Lincoln Park—715 Beal St.

                        -Pier Park—500 S. Oak St.  

                        -Grace Abbott Park—601 W. State St.

                        -Stolley Park—2103 W. Stolley Park Rd.


   Island Oasis consists of two speed slides six-stories high and almost 300 foot long, two flume slides 150 feet long with a swimming pool splash down area, and two enclosed slides which are 150 feet dark tunnel slides. The park also features a wave pool with 350,000 gallons of water, a lazy river, lily pad and log walk, kiddy otter slide, and a sand volleyball court. Concessions are also available.

    Lincoln Pool features zero depth entry, a one-meter diving board, three-meter diving board, a slide, and shaded structures.

   Admission for Island Oasis is $7 for youth ages 5 to 15, as well as seniors ages 55 and up, and $8 for adults ages16 to 54. Children ages 4 and under are free with a paying adult. A one-time family pass is also available for two adults and up to four kids for $24. Residents also have the option of buying individual season passes. Passes are $75 for youth ages 5 to 15 and for seniors ages 55 and up and $85 for adults ages 16 to 54. Single parent family season passes are $160 and family passes for the season are $190.

   The City Parks and Recreation Department is also offering a Gold Season Pass which includes free inner tube rental, locker rental, and 10 percent off concession items. All these extras are only $20 more than the individual pass prices mentioned above. A Gold Season Pass price for a single parent family household is $200 and $235 for a family.

   There are also other great deals at Island Oasis after 5 p.m. including $2 off admission Wednesday through Sunday, two for one Mondays where pool goers receive two admissions for the price of one, and Tuesdays are Family Night where admission is only $3 per person with great discount concession deals.

   Admission price for Lincoln Pool is only $3 for youth ages 5 to 15, as well as seniors 55 and up, and $4 for adults ages 16 to 54. Children four and under are free with a paying adult.

    Season passes to Lincoln Pool are $40 for ages 5 to 15 and seniors 55 and older and $50 for people ages 16 to 54. There is also a single parent family pass option which is used for immediate family members only and can be purchased for $90 or a family pass is available for $115.

   Wading pools are free for children to use.  No lifeguards are on duty at the wading pools.
