Robert Meyer, City Council President

 

Number of Terms Served/Year Elected to Office:
Councilman Robert Meyer was elected to office and began his first term in December 2002.  He was re-elected for a second term in December of 2006.  He serves as the City Council President in 2007.

Education/Background:
Meyer Served in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1976.  He is a retired Grand Island fireman where he served as part of the team for 20 years.

Place of Employment:
Mid-Plains Center for Behavioral Healthcare Services / Maintenance.

Reason I Ran for Public Office:
Meyer ran for office because he has a strong desire to serve the public  and is greatly interested in the future of Grand Island.  His priorities are economic development and public safety.

Goals or Areas of Special Interest:
Meyer would like to bring in new industry to Grand Island, bolster our city’s public safety departments, and improve the quality of life for the residents of Grand Island.

Family:
He is married to Barbara.  They have one son, Benjamin and one daughter, Anna.
