Steve Riehle has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He is a Registered Professional Civil Engineer in the State of Nebraska. Steve has worked at the Nebraska Department of Roads, Hooker Brothers, Inc. and Olsson Associates in Grand Island. Steve was appointed as the City Engineer and Public Works Director for the City of Grand Island in May of 1999. Steve is a member of the American Public Works Association, Grand Island Engineers Club, ITE - Institute of Transportation Engineers, SWANA - Solid Waste Association of North America, Yakkity Yakker's Toastmasters Club, and The Grand Island Kiwanis Club. |

Public Works Department performs engineering for street, storm drainage, and wastewater collection projects. They also take care of street maintenance operations such as patching potholes, repairing concrete roads, sealing cracks, maintaining signs & signals, and snow removal. The Wastewater division is responsible for maintenance of the sewer collection lines throughout the city and operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant. Fleet Services keeps city equipment running and the Solid Waste Division operates the transfer station and landfill. |
