Grand Island was named one of the “100 Best Communities for Young People” on January 24 by America’s Promise Alliance.  The national announcement of winners was made on the Today’s Show by Alma Powell.  In celebration of this award, a special ceremony was held at Grand Island Senior High Auditorium.  Presenting at the ceremony were City Administrator Jeff Pederson, Grand Island Public Schools Superintendent Steve Joel, Michael Rivera a junior from Grand Island Senior High and Laura Wirth a senior from Grand Island Central Catholic.
