The City of Grand Island, through cooperative efforts with Hall County and other agencies, has assembled one of Nebraska's best Geographical Information Systems. Thanks to those efforts, Grand Island has received a Special Achievement in GIS Award for the inovative use of our Geographical Information System from ESRI, the world leader in GIS solutions. The Grand Island GIS (Geographical Information System) is a cooperative effort between Hall County and the City of Grand Island. Data is constantly being updated and edited by staff at the County and City. This information is shared and collected to provide the citizens access to a wealth of information anytime, any place.
MapSifter is a web based application that allow simple searches to find locations through the city/county. It provides information about property descriptions, and values, but also School information, FEMA maps, utilities, and political representation. There are even aerial photos that date back to 1938.
Traffic Counts Map application show the number of vehicles at certain points along major streets in Grand Island. This data is updated yearly. The historical data dates back to 2001.
