Year Elected to Office and Number of Terms Served:
Chuck Haase was elected to the City Council in 2008 and re-elected in 2012 and again in 2016. In 2014 Haase was elected as City Council President.
Education and Background:
Haase received a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Kearney State College. Haase also completed Advanced NCO Course, Senior NCO Course, and the Adjutant Generals Advanced Course, U.S. Army, Fort Eustis, Va.
Place of Employment:
Haase is a current board member of the Nebraska Power Review Board, appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Legislature in 2013. Haase worked for Charter Communications for 15 years and held several multi-state management positions, including Group Fiscal Operations Manager, Business Manager, then Fleet and Facilities Manager, including government affairs, then retiring in 2015. Haase also served in the Army National Guard for over 22 years, serving locally in Columbus, Grand Island, Kearney and Lincoln, before retiring in 1994.
Community Activities and Organizations Currently Involved In:
Haase is a state committee member for Nebraska ESGR; a 39 year member of American Legion Post 263; and a member of the Nebraska Military Retiree Association.
Additional Involvement and Special Areas of Interest:
Chuck and his wife, Joyce, are members of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served as the past treasurer, Board of Stewards, usher, and lay reader. Haase is a past advisory board member of the Salvation Army; past coach of Grand Island Girls Softball; past treasurer of the Grand Island Zoological Society; and past president of the Nebraska Cable Association. Haase serves as the family historian, and resident genealogist, and has over 8,000 members in his ever growing family tree. Furthermore, Haase has current memberships in Nebraska and Wisconsin Genealogy Groups.
Reason for Running for Public Office:
Haase supports the community success with effective economic development, conservative financial practice, and public accountability. His experience and education is in leadership, finance and accountability, and excellence in customer service. Haase desires to work for the residents of Grand Island bringing growth and prosperity through openness and good conservative government practices. Furthermore, Haase has a special interest in veteran's issues and improved family opportunities.
Haase, and his wife, Joyce, have been married for over 39 years and are the proud parents of three adult daughters, three sons-in-law and 10 grandchildren.
