Grand Island Mayor Jeremy Jensen has called Grand Island home since 1978, when at the age of five, his family relocated here from Ogallala, NE.  Mayor Jensen graduated high school from Grand Island Senior High in 1991 and earned his degree from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 1996 with double emphasis in Finance and Economics. 

Mayor Jensen is a partner in the financial advisory firm HELIX Financial, Inc. and also serves as the head coach of the Grand Island Senior High Boys Varsity Soccer team.  He and his wife Kim – who volunteers for numerous organizations in the community – are blessed with three beautiful children that keep the family quite busy with all of their numerous activities. 

Prior to being elected as the youngest mayor of Grand Island in the past 75 years, Mayor Jeremy had held no other political office.  Soccer team at Children's HospitalHowever, he has spent his life creating teams, surrounding himself with great people, empowering others, and coaching his clients and colleagues to maximize opportunities and talents.  He is driven to create a culture of excellence within the leadership of the City of Grand Island and is incredibly humbled to be in a position to lead the place he has called home for over 30 years forward.

Grand Island has very special meaning to Mayor Jeremy, growing up here with meager means and returning after college graduation to raise a family and start a business.  He feels strongly there is not a segment of the local population that he can’t relate to which has helped him form strong bonds in a short amount of time with constituents. 

Mayor Jeremy Jensen and JalenUltimately, his desire is to have Grand Island be a destination for his own kids to want to live when it comes time for them to lead their own lives.  The importance of long term developments of quality job growth and median income increases, a solid education system, quality affordable housing options, recreational and commerce options which excite young families and finally terrific public safety are all important developments that can help to make this a reality.
