The Grand Island Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (GIAMPO) began the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan in July 2017. RDG Planning & Design will lead the study efforts. The study has a seven-month schedule, concluding in February 2018.
The purpose of the study is to:
Assess the existing conditions and opportunities for pedestrian and bicycle transportation in the Grand Island region
Develop a system and program that expands routine bike and pedestrian transportation/recreation use
Recommend a sequence of future bicycle, pedestrian, and trial projects
The purpose of the survey is to gather community input to define the preferences and opinions of current and prospective cyclists and pedestrians.
Community Workshop on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 5 to 7 pm at the Grand Island Public Library. The workshop is an informal open house designed to give the public an opportunity to provide input on the preliminary bicycle and pedestrian network.
