Most of the general public utilizes the Transfer Station site, which is located at 5050 West Old Potash Highway, just 3 miles west of Grand Island, at the corner of Monitor Road and Potash Highway. The Transfer Station is the proper site for manual unloading of materials, and is also the location for the Yard Waste Site.
All incoming loads must be covered with a tarp or net. All uncovered loads will be subject to a $10 fee per load.
Items that are more than 8 feet in length will not be allowed for disposal at the transfer station. Please contact the superintendent at (308) 385-5433, Ext.4, to discuss other options.

Tree Grass, Leaves, and Tree Branches
The Transfer Station offers to residential customers free disposal of grass, leaves, and tree branches. The Yard Waste Site has a separate entrance located on Monitor Road, just North of the Transfer Station building. This site will be closed for the season beginning Monday, December 18, 2017. Grand Island residents can still dispose of yard waste for free during the Winter months by entering the main entrance to the transfer station during normal operating hours of 7:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. Monday thru Friday and 7:00a.m. to noon on Saturday.
