The Utilities Department-Engineering Division is responsible for coordination and communication between our construction crews and customers. We will be posting updated information about current and future construction projects and will continue to update our progress in order to better serve you.

CITY WATER MAIN PROJECTS

Water Main Project 2014-W-10,11, 12, 13, 18, & 19- Water main re-locations for the NW interceptor sewer project.        

Water Main Project 2015-W-15- Water main re-locations for Capital Avenue widening project from Webb Road to Broadwell Ave.

Water Main Project 2015-W-1- Water main replacement under UPRR tracts at Pine Street.

Water Main Project 2015-W-2- Water main replacement under UPRR tracts at Logan Street.

PRIVATE INITIATED WATER MAIN PROJECTS

Water Main Project 2013-W-6- Water main installation for Pleasantview 14th & 16th Subdivision.

Water Main Project 2014-W-9,20, & 21- Water main installation for Copper Creek 6th, 7th, & 8th Subdivision.

Water Main Project 2015-W-4- Water main installation for Central Nebraska Regional Airport passenger terminal

OVERHEAD ELECTRIC LINE REBUILD AREAS

Overhead electric lines in certain areas of town are in need of upgrading to provide safe and uninterrupted power to Grand Island customers.  City of Grand Island crews will be changing out poles, wire, and transformers in these area alleys and easements. There may be intermittent power outages during the construction process. Customers will be notified during the outages personally or with door hangers. Contact Overhead Superintendent Bryan Fiala for more information.   

  UNDERGROUND ELECTRIC LINE REBUILD AREAS

Underground electric lines in certain areas of town are in need of upgrading to provide safe and uninterrupted power to Grand Island customers. City Grand Island crews will be changing out poles transformers and cable in these area easements. There may be intermittent power outages during the construction process. Customers will be notified during the outages personally or with door hangers.  Contact Underground Superintendent Randy Leiser for more information.                                                      

Brentwood Subdivsion- Replace and upgrade transformers and cable. 

Copper Creek Subdivision- Install new transformers and cable.

Riverside Acres- Replace and upgrade transformer and cable.

 2015 TREE TRIMMING CONTRACT AREAS

Tree trimming is required to help keep limbs away from overhead power lines. A good tree trimming program helps keep our customer's electric service as reliable as possible. Contractors may be trimming trees in alleys and easements in your area. Contact Overhead Superintendent Bryan Fiala for more information.
