City of Grand Island's Elevated Water Storage Tank
Site and foundation work are started at the location of the new two million gallon elevated water storage tank. The new tank will provide water during those peak demand periods and maintain water pressure if power is lost to the pumping stations. Today, the water pressure is maintained by three pumping stations, each station is supplied from two electrical power sources providing a reliable source of water.
As Grand Island grows, there are more customers that use water, and our system needs to grow to meet the new demand. An elevated water storage tower provides additional storage and maintains the water pressure.
Watch over the next year as Grand Island gets its first elevated water storage tower off of Engleman Road, just south of Old Potash.
The anticipated completion date of this project is October 2018.
