The North Moores Creek Wetland Mitigation Bank project will determine the feasibility of a wetland bank on an 80 acre parcel of the land the City currently owns just north of Eagle Scout Lake, which Moores Creek drains through.  This project will permit future City wetland impacts to be offset and potentially permit the sale of wetland credits if desired.  This area is also likely to provide additional detention capacity for the Moores Creek system allowing the removal of several weir structures to encourage faster flow through town.  The City of Grand Island completed a Master Plan for the Mores Creek system in 2019 in which these concepts were initially investigated.  The intent would be to use that as a starting point for this analysis.

On November 12, 2019, via Resolution No. 2019-334 City Council approved an agreement with Felsburg Holt & Ullevig of Omaha, Nebraska for engineering services on a time and expense basis not to exceed $96,320.00.
