*  Message from the Mayor  *

Residents of Grand Island:

People are asking me for locations in the city where coronavirus may be present.  On March 28, 2020, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services determined that we have confirmed cases of community spread of coronavirus in the city.  This means that we must assume that coronavirus is everywhere.  Please take extra precautions using this assumption.   Please keep at least 6 feet of space between you and other people, wash your hands regularly, and do not touch your face.

Mayor Roger G. Steele

COVID-19 Response -

Effective Monday, April 6, 2020, public transit service through CRANE Public Transit will provide service for essential trips.

It is strongly suggested that public transit is only utilized for essential services, those which cannot be performed in any other capacity, such as online or over the phone.  Use of public transit for social and other non-essential purposes is strongly discouraged. Anyone who is experiencing, or has been near someone experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough or shortness of breath should follow call-in protocols with medical professionals, and should not attempt to use public transit.
