The Grand Island WWTP is responsible for the sewage collection system as well as for processing 10 million gallons of sewage a day.

The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) receives sewage waste into its plant where it undergoes numerous processes to disinfect and separate the waste into two components:

  • Liquid Treatment - Liquids get treated and disinfected, and ultimately discharged into area waterways.
  • Solid Treatment (Residuals from the liquid treatment), Waste is eventually shipped off-site to the landfill.
