Permission is requested to close the above listed street on Tuesday, August 7th, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to no later than 10:00 p.m. for a National Night Out event.
State statutes and City ordinances prohibit the consumption of alcoholic beverages on public property. You are responsible to see that this does not occur. The Police and Fire Departments are aware of your use of the public right-of-way and will be in a position to make arrangements in their operations in the event their services are needed in the area.
A few things to keep in mind with this street closure approval:
•Residents of the block and their visitors, cannot be denied access to and from their driveways to move vehicles if they so desire;
•Parking on the closed street cannot be restricted during the event. The residents on the block need to reach an agreement regarding parking;
•You are responsible for any clean up that needs to be done in the street after the event;
The Street Division of the Public Works Department will deposit a sufficient number of barricades at the intersections before the event and will pick them up after the event.
Someone from your group should plan to set up the barricades before your function begins and put them back in the right-of-way after your function is over. Please contact the Street Division at 385-5322 if you have any questions about the barricades or their removal. Direct any other questions in reference to National Night Out to Officer Wood at the Grand Island Police Department. Officer Wood’s telephone is 385-5400 extension 2297.
