Grand Island, Neb. — With the upcoming Memorial Day holiday, the City of Grand Island would like to announce its variety of holiday hours.
All of the below departments will be closed in observance of Memorial Day:
Grand Island City Hall
Crane Public Transit
Utilities Service Center
Solid Waste Facility
Grand Island Public Library
GIPD Service Desk (Please call 9-1-1)
Transit Office
Street & Fleet Office
Wastewater Treatment Plant (24-hour operation will continue)
The Grand Island Public Library will also be closed on Sunday, May 24 in addition to being closed for Memorial Day on Monday, May 25.
The Grand Island Cemetery hours during Memorial Day weekend are as follows:
Saturday, May 23: 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Sunday, May 24: 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Monday, May 25: 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Memorial decorations not permanently installed into concrete; including flowers, solar lights, shepherds hooks and flags will be removed by the cemetery staff on Monday, June 8. Owners who wish to save decorations should pick them up prior to that date. The cemetery is located at 3168 W. Stolley Park Road. For questions, please call the cemetery at (308) 385-5359.
The City of Grand Island’s swimming facilities will be not be open for the summer until Saturday, May 30, but the splash pads and wading pools will be open starting Saturday, May 23. Operational hours are as follows (weather permitting):
Veterans Park/Stolley Park Splash Pad – 2820 N. Broadwell:
Monday-Sunday - 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Wading Pools:
*Lincoln Park – 715 Beal Street
*Pier Park – 500 S. Oak Street
*Grace Abbott Park – 601 W. State StreetMonday-Sunday - 11:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Lastly, Jackrabbit Run Golf Course will also be open for Memorial Day Weekend. The course will be open for both practice and play from 7:30 a.m. until sunset.
