Halloween with Heroes

Grand Island, Neb. โ€” The Grand Island Police Department and Fire Department, will be teaming up with under emergency responders to once again bring some Halloween fun to local families through the 2nd-Annual Halloween with Heroes event.

The event, which is hosted by the Hall County Crime Stoppers, is set for Thursday, October 30, from 6-8 p.m. at the Fonner Park Sheep Barn. The free, family-friendly Trunk-or-Treat event invites children of all ages to dress in costume and enjoy a safe and festive evening of candy, games and community interaction. The event provides a unique opportunity for local families to meet Grand Islandโ€™s first responders, including police officers, firefighters, paramedics and other public safety professionals, as well as several community organizations and local businesses that help make the event possible.

Last yearโ€™s inaugural Halloween with Heroes was a huge success, drawing an estimated 1,700 children and more than 50 participating businesses. This yearโ€™s event is expected to be even bigger, and organizers have worked hard to create a fun, safe, and memorable experience for families while highlighting the positive relationships between first responders and the residents they serve.

โ€œThe goal of this event is to build trust and strengthen our connection with the community,โ€ said Grand Island Police Chief Kevin Denney. โ€œWe want children to see our officers, firefighters, and paramedics as approachable, friendly, and ready to help โ€” not just in emergencies, but as neighbors and community members too.โ€

In addition to trick-or-treating, families can expect a variety of themed trunks and booths decorated by first responders and local organizations, giveaways and opportunities to explore emergency vehicles up close.
