Grand Island, Neb. ā This September, the Grand Island Public Library invites the community to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month and discover how one library card can unlock a world of opportunity.
A library card is more than just a ticket to books. It provides access to free classes, job resources, homework help, streaming media, cultural events and so much more. Todayās libraries connect communities not only to information, but also to inspiration and to each other.
This yearās theme, āOne Card, Endless Possibilities,ā highlights that libraries are for everyoneāregardless of age, background or goals. Whether youāre pursuing a new hobby, finding your next favorite book, improving your technology skills or supporting your childās learning, it all begins with a library card.
At the Grand Island Public Library, cardholders enjoy access to:
A creative Makerspace with programs like Adult Crafternoon, plus online resources such as Libby, Hoopla and Mango Languages. In-library databases include Ancestry for genealogy research and Alldata for auto repair.
Monthly art exhibits in the libraryās art alcove & a permanent in-library art collection
Programs and events for every age, including baby and toddler lapsits, Bookbop, Pajamatime, preschool storytime, Teen Anime, ByGone discussions and multiple book clubs.
Getting a library card is free, easy and rewarding. Community members are encouraged to stop by the Grand Island Public Library or visit www.gilibrary.org to sign up for their card. The libraryās mobile app is also available through the App Store and Google Play.
