Grand Island, Neb. ā There are only two weeks left to participate in the Grand Island Public Library's 2026 Summer Reading Challenge, giving readers of all ages one last opportunity to earn rewards and qualify for prize drawings before the program concludes on August 8.
The challenge is open to children, teens and adults, with separate reading goals and prizes for each age group. Participants can register and log reading minutes through the Beanstack website at https://gilibrary.beanstack.com or by downloading the Beanstack Tracker app. Reading minutes may be backdated to May 31 to count toward the challenge.
Children who participate can earn a Nebraska State Fair pass, a free book or book bundle and an invitation to the library's exclusive Summer Reading Pool Party on August 7 at Lincoln Pool. Teen participants can earn a free book, candy, snacks and a coupon for a complimentary Makerspace project.
Participants who meet the minimum reading requirements will also receive tickets to enter prize drawings. Children's prizes include a Razor scooter, LEGO set, chemistry set, Super Soakers and more. Teen prizes include Owala water bottles, LEGO kits and a nail polish kit. Adult prizes include a Bluetooth speaker, record player and a barbecue tool set with cookbook.
The Summer Reading Challenge ends August 8. Prize tickets must be assigned to specific prizes through Beanstack by August 13 to be eligible for the drawings, which will take place on August 14. Winners will then be notified by phone.
The Grand Island Public Library serves residents of both the City of Grand Island and Hall County. Anyone who lives in or owns property in Hall County is eligible for a free library card.
