Grand Island, Neb. ā The Grand Island Police Department has been awarded $29,838 through the Fiscal Year 2025 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program.
The award, approved by the Office of Justice Programs on July 31, will support technology and public safety enhancements for both the Grand Island Police Department and the Hall County Sheriff's Office.
Approximately 75% of the grant funding will be used to upgrade computers in Grand Island Police Department patrol vehicles, providing officers with improved technology to support their work in the field. The remaining 25% of the funding will be allocated to the Hall County Sheriff's Office for the purchase of license plate readers.
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program provides federal funding to state and local jurisdictions to support a variety of public safety initiatives, including law enforcement equipment, technology improvements and crime prevention efforts.
