Join Us for Welcoming Week Programs
Grand Island, NE ā As a part of Welcoming Week, an annual campaign that invites communities around the globe to host events that deepen understanding and connection among community members, the library will have two special programs going on the week of September 10-19th at the library located at 1124 W. 2nd St.
On September 12, the library will have the Pedro Martin author event from 1-3 pm for all ages. Pedro Martin is the Newbery Honor Award, and the Pura Belpre Award for his graphic memoir Mexikid. This free event is open to the public. Martin will teach attendees how to create their own graphic memoirs as zines, mini magazines.
The library will also have the free āSharing Kindness Makerspace Programā on Tuesday, September 15 from 5-6:30 pm. Families and individuals may bring a picture of their family, friends, pets, etc. to turn into a puzzle and share with those they love. People can also make a kindness button. No preregistration is required.
Both of these programs are sponsored by the Grand Island Public Library Foundation.
