US Highway 281 Intersection Improvements; Project No. HSIP-40(71); Control No. 43061

This is a State project.

On October 14, 2025 City Council approved entering into a Program Agreement, via Resolution No. 2025-341, with The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) for safety modification to six (6) intersections (listed below) along US Highway 281 within City limits.

  •  Stolley Park Road

  • US Highway 30 (WB ramp)

  • Old Potash Highway

  • Faidley Avenue

  • 13th Street

  • State Street

Proposed modifications at each of the six (6) intersections include roadway widening for offset left turn lanes and right turn lanes, with pavement reconstruction approximately 1/8 mile north and south of the intersections.  Side street reconstruction is anticipated to be minor, with grading and drainage accommodated as needed.  Curb ramps will also be reconstructed to meet current American Disability Act (ADA) standards.

The total cost of work within City limits is currently estimated to be $5,597,600.00 with the City’s share at $1,119,520.00.  The actual cost is likely to be greater than the preliminary estimates as details of design are further developed.
