SRO Youth Program

Grand Island, Neb. -- Summer is fast approaching, and it's time to start planning for enrollment in the SRO Summer Camp Program. This camp, which is only available for 5th Graders moving into 6th Grade, offers exciting activities designed to promote leadership, positive decision-making skills, and strong community ties—all under the supervision of the Grand Island Police Department’s School Resource Officer Unit. The camps will be hosted at Barr Middle School (East side drop off/ pick up)  and will take place in a fun, activity-based environment.

The camp will run for five days, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with Friday ending early at 1:00 PM. A free lunch will be provided daily by Grand Island Public Schools Nutrition Services or through generous donations from local businesses.

We aim to create a positive, nurturing environment that encourages character development in each participant. We aim to provide a safe, supervised, and structured setting where children can grow emotionally and physically. Camp activities include team building, physical games, group lessons on behavior, community involvement, and guest speakers from the community.

This packet includes all the information you need to ensure your child’s safety and enjoyment at camp. As School Resource Officers, we believe helping children grow into responsible and respectful individuals is one of our most important responsibilities. Our mission is to offer the best summer camp experience possible. Please let us know if your family has any special accommodations or if there’s anything we can do to enhance your child’s camp experience.
