Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Public Library is proud to announce the launch of the Girls Who Code Club for students entering 3rd through 6th grade this fall.
Girls Who Code is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology by equipping girls with the skills and confidence to pursue careers in computer science. The club will meet for a total of eight sessions, beginning with the first four sessions starting on Friday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m. The remaining four sessions will resume on Friday, July 11 at 10:30 a.m.
Designed for children ages 8 to 12, the Girls Who Code Club provides a welcoming and engaging environment for young learners to explore the world of coding. Participants will enjoy hands-on activities that not only teach foundational coding skills, but also emphasize social-emotional development and the real-world application of technology to make a positive impact.
The program fosters a culture of bravery and community, offering children the opportunity to join a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models in the tech industry. While the club primarily supports girls, boys are also welcome to participate. A light snack will be provided during each session and registration is required.
The Grand Island Public Library proudly serves residents of both the City of Grand Island and Hall County. Library cards are available at no cost to anyone who lives in or owns property within Hall County.
