Grand Island, Neb. -- The Grand Island Utilities Department brought smiles and high-flying fun to families at the 4th-Annual Touch A Truck event in Grand Island. Held under sunny skies, the event gave kids and parents the chance to explore vehicles of all shapes and sizes—from fire trucks to construction equipment—and GIUD’s towering bucket trucks were a crowd favorite.
Children lined up for a chance to ride in the elevated bucket, getting a bird’s-eye view of the event and a taste of what it’s like to work high above the ground as a lineworker. Along with the thrilling rides, GIUD team members handed out candy, answered questions and showed off the tools they use every day to keep Grand Island powered and safe.
Touch A Truck continues to be a popular tradition for families, offering kids an up-close look at the people and vehicles that keep the community running. For GIUD, it’s a fun and meaningful way to connect with residents—and maybe even inspire a few future lineworkers along the way.
