Several local nonprofits are answering the call already, and right now, they are saying their shelves are stocked and they're here for families in need. Learn more: https://www.grand-island.com/article/2519033

Thanks to the Ten Free Trees program, an effort of the Nebraska Forest Service and the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum, the City of Grand Island received ten trees to plant in a park of its choosing.

Parks and Recreation crews could be seen planting those trees in Broadwell Park Wednesday morning. The park recently lost a lot of tree and shade cover due to needing to remove unhealthy trees.

It was a special morning over at the Law Enforcement Center as Mayor Steele gave remarks and helped congratulate six graduates of the Central Nebraska Drug Court.

A program offering second chances has once again reunited families, offered assistance when there was nowhere else to turn and showed the graduates a path to a better future.

Thanks for letting us take part in the powerful ceremony!

ICYMI: Last week we welcomed the arrival of our new aerial platform tower truck, which will be known as "Tower One." This new truck will help us access the many multi-story buildings throughout the city. Last Wednesday, we had some little helpers give it a good wash before holding a push-in ceremony.
