Their day will include meeting with Mayor Steele, tours of our police and fire departments, a visit to the Stuhr Museum and ending with a Fulbright Scholar Multicultural Showcase at the City of Grand Island - Public Library!

Firefighter/Paramedic Ryan Cyboron got in the win column Sunday during the First Responders Foundation Omaha Guns & Hoses Challenge!
Local firefighters throughout Nebraska ended up with a 6-1 win over local Nebraska police officers. Cyboron said Team Fire had a vendetta to settle after losing the last three-straight years.

We're officially accepting applications to serve on the board of the newly created Grand Island Public Art Commission!
In total the board will consist of seven members, and five of the members must fulfill these categories:
1) Museum Curator
2) Architect or Landscape Architect
3) Representative of a local nonprofit visual arts corporation/association
4) Visual Art Teacher
5) Commercial or Established Visual Artist or Designer
The final two board seats will go to two at-large members with demonstrated interest or experience in the visual arts. Members must be residents of the City, reside within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City or be employed at least 20 hours per week within the City by a museum, architecture firm, school or nonprofit visual arts corporation or association.

Friendly reminder of the day - don't drive your ATV onto any frozen bodies of water within our Grand Island park system, as it's against the law.
We've recently received reports of individuals being out on the ice at L.E. Ray Park with an ATV. On the sign entering the park, it says "No Gasoline Motors Allowed on Lake." This was primarily intended for boats, but ATV's certainly fit that category as well!

City Administrator Laura McAloon and Grand Island Area Economic Development Corporation President Mary Berlie have been representing Grand Island in El Paso, TX this week at the National League of Cities cohort meeting!
The Grand Island duo presented to the cohort on the city's Community Kitchen Pilot Program and learned from others who received similar grants.

A local grant of $1,000 has been awarded to the Grand Island Utilities Department as part of a national giving campaign.
